Hello! I would like to welcome you to the fifth grade! My name is Alison Marchese and I will be the fifth grade teacher this year at St. Peter-Sacred Heart School. This is my second year at St. Peter-Sacred Heart School and I am eager to begin another great year at an excellent school! I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in English. I then completed my Masters degree in 2008 receiving a degree in Elementary Education. I am certified in CT for grades k- 6. In fifth grade, students will receive homework daily. Students in my HSP math class will be asked to review basic facts daily to increase speed and accuracy. They will also be given a sheet of word problems on Friday and have a week to complete the assignment. In Reading, make sure your children are reading 20 minutes a day, a reading log will be going home on Monday and collected on Friday with a parent/guardian signature. This year, students in fifth grade will have an increased sense of responsibility, leadership, and expectations. Students are accountable for their daily homework assignments in each subject and observance of school and classroom rules. It is my hope to instill a greater sense of confidence, self-esteem and responsibility so that each student can strive for his or her highest potential. I believe in an open line of communication and would like all parents to take an active part in educating their children. Students are expected to be respectful, work hard, and do their very best everyday. If you have any questions, please contact me at spshgrade5@diobptedu.org |
