Ms. Drace has taught in the
Diocese of Bridgeport for 10 years. She has been with St. Peter- Sacred Heart
School since 2008.
The Second Graders participate in 90 minute English
Language Arts lessons every day. English Language Arts includes Reading,
Spelling, and Phonics. They also participate in the Reader’s and Writer’s
Workshop, as well as Reader’s Theater.
The Second Graders also participate in 45 minutes of
Mathematics every day. The use of manipulatives and
other types of hands-on learning takes place. The Second Graders also learn
math vocabulary on a daily basis.
The Second Graders receive their First Eucharist and First
Reconciliation. They prepare for these special sacraments throughout the year.
Religion, Social Studies, Science, and Manuscript lessons take
place every day in Second Grade. The Second Graders also take part in a Morning
Meeting which includes learning about the calendar and the weather, as well as
cooperative activities and social skills.
The Second Graders learn about Community Service and
participate in Community Service projects throughout the year.
The Second Grade has Music, Art, Computer, and Gym class
once a week. They also have Spanish class twice a week.
